Vagrant story difficulty3/18/2023 ![]() ![]() Yes, the game can be hard to figure out before you get the hang of it. I figured that one out after I barely got through that fight. Right after the dungeon, you need to fight an enemies who are resistant to light element Al damage. Defeating undead enemies raises your weapon's light elemental affinity. In one part of the game, you have to get through a dungeon filled with undead enemies. The point I'm trying to make here is that the game has a lot of systems at work from the get go and when a certain strategy does not work for an enemy, the game does not do a great job at telling you why. I then whacked some enemies with it before battling the boss again and lo behold I was dealing 42 damage per hit. Hence my brand new axe was not dealing enough damage. Using a weapon over and over made it more powerful. I then found out that wepon dage depends on other things as well. I then brought in a brand new great axe to slay it. After a lot of searching, I figured out that this boss, only this particular dragon, was not weak to piercing weapons. Then I was not able to damage the boss at all. Naturally I brought one for this boss as well. Most dragon bosses( and there are a lot of them in the game) are weak to piercing weapons. In my case it was the third boss in the game. However, the game itself is not difficult, IF you know what you're doing. Yes, the horror stories about getting 0 damage on bosses is not exaggerated. Usually I'm not into jrpgs with complex mecahnics but this one had me enthralled.įirst, let's address the elephant in the room - the difficulty. I'll admit that the game has a bit of a learning curve but I'm surprised at how much I liked it. It seems that this game does not get mentioned as often as it should be. ![]()
